What does it mean?

Two distinct senses need context: a bop can be an enjoyable, catchy song. Used about a person, it can instead be a degrading sexual insult, usually aimed at women and implying promiscuity or judging their appearance; the label is not evidence about anyone’s sex life.

What Happened?

Merriam-Webster traces the sexual insult to African American English and hip-hop by at least the 1990s; it reports renewed spread after Almighty Rexxo’s 2021 song Lala Bop and a 2023 TikTok trend. The song sense is separate.
