Overview
Chad L. Coleman’s work after Dennis ‘Cutty’ Wise has ranged from human-scale drama to some of television’s best-known speculative worlds. He played Tyreese in The Walking Dead, Fred Johnson in The Expanse and Klyden in The Orville. The move from Cutty’s effort to rebuild a life to those roles changed the setting dramatically without reducing his career to a single genre. His superhero television credits include Tobias Church in Arrow and Bruno Mannheim in Superman & Lois. Comedy is another substantial strand: the CW’s biography identifies him as Z in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Gary Miller in I Hate My Teenage Daughter. Further work includes Roots, Interrogation and Corey James in All American. Coleman’s stage career should also remain visible in a retrospective dominated by television. His Aspen Ideas biography lists Admissions, Gem of the Ocean, Radio Golf, Othello and The Exonerated among his theater credits, alongside later screen work such as Girls5eva, Three Women and Shooting Stars. Those sources establish a broad creative record. Their undated stage listings do not establish that every play came after The Wire, and older network biographies should not be read as a live production schedule.
