Molly Mullaney

Overview

Molly Mullaney, also known as Molly Rose Mullaney, appeared in the Minneapolis season of Love Is Blind. Her dates with David Bettenburg became part of a triangle involving Lauren O’Brien. Bettenburg ultimately proposed to O’Brien, and Mullaney did not continue into the engaged couples’ phase. Her place in Season 8 also includes the friendships she formed with the other women and her later discussions of the experience beyond the pod dates.

Netflix’s official introduction described Mullaney as a former Minnesota Timberwolves cheerleader with a long interest in performance. As a child, she competed in lip-sync contests and used some of the winnings toward college expenses. By the time she entered the experiment, she had bought a home on her own. The profile combined those accomplishments with a wish to meet someone who would encourage her enthusiasm rather than find it embarrassing.

Christmas traditions were another part of her introduction. Mullaney brought an ornament into the pods with the idea of sharing it with a future husband, and imagined decorating a tree together in her own home. That detail connected the show’s rapid marriage premise to a specific picture of everyday life. She wanted a partner who could support both the playful, performing side of her personality and the independent life she had already built.

In a March 2025 Vulture roundtable with O’Brien, Monica Danús and Meg Fink, Mullaney discussed the importance of the women’s friendships during filming. She described trying to support the engaged participants and having people nearby who understood the process after returning home. Later that month, she appeared on Dr. Morgan Anderson’s podcast to discuss her time on the show. Those appearances give her story a public continuation without inventing a later engagement or marriage.
