Matt Rife

Overview

Matt Rife moved from teenage stand-up sets to a career spanning touring, streaming specials and television. An Ohio native who began performing comedy at 15, he became particularly recognizable through online clips of his exchanges with audiences. That crowd-work format—building a moment around the people in the room—has remained an important part of his public identity.

Before his Netflix specials, Rife released full-length performances on YouTube. Those projects included “Only Fans” in 2021 and “Matthew Steven Rife” in 2023. He also released “Walking Red Flag,” a 2023 special centered on audience interaction. The independently distributed shows gave viewers longer performances to watch beyond the short clips that traveled across social platforms.

His Netflix work includes “Natural Selection,” released in November 2023, followed by the crowd-work special “Lucid” in August 2024. A Live Nation tour announcement also lists the December 2025 holiday special “Unwrapped.” Together, the projects show the distinction between a prepared stand-up set and a performance built around spontaneous conversation, even when both feature the same comedian.

Rife’s television credits extend beyond stand-up recordings. The tour biography lists appearances on MTV’s “Wild ’N Out” and “TRL,” along with acting work in “Fresh Off the Boat,” “That ’90s Show” and “Mo.” He also published the memoir “Your Mom’s Gonna Love Me” in December 2024, adding a book-length account of his life to his screen and stage work.

Live performances remain central to his career. The Stay Golden tour expanded across North America and overseas, with some dates using a stage positioned in the middle of the audience. His official tour publicity describes an entertainment career combining writing, producing, acting and performing rather than a single social-media format. The official website is the appropriate starting point for current dates; older tour announcements document the projects and credits attached to a particular period.
