The Lowdown

Darby Allin said he wanted to see what would happen if he ran 26.2 miles without training. The answer: an official finish at Sunday’s New York City Marathon, a medal in one hand and the TNT Championship in the other (POST Wrestling; Fightful).

Key Takeaways

  • New York Road Runners results list Allin at 5:34:34 for the five-borough course on Sunday, Nov. 1, a pace of about 12:46 per mile (POST Wrestling; SEScoops; Fightful).
  • He started at 9:15 a.m. ET and crossed the line at 2:49 p.m. ET, according to the official results (POST Wrestling; SEScoops).
  • It was his first marathon, run without a training plan and in support of KultureCity, the sensory-accessibility nonprofit (SEScoops; F4W).
  • He wrestled Hechicero at CMLL’s Day of the Dead show in Mexico City on Friday, and on Wednesday he’s in the men’s Blood & Guts match on Dynamite (POST Wrestling; SEScoops).

The Story

Allin posted his own time as 5:35:14 on Instagram, writing: “I wanted to challenge myself and not train at all and see what happened what a wild experience now time for blood and guts!” The official NYRR result is 40 seconds faster, so he undersold himself a little (POST Wrestling; F4W).

When he announced the run back in June, he made clear he wasn’t going to follow a plan. “I don’t even have running shoes yet,” he said at the time, according to SEScoops. Race tracking had him at an 11-minute-mile clip early before he slowed over the back half (SEScoops).

The wrestling world reacts

AEW referee Aubrey Edwards summed up the week in her reply: “I still can’t believe you got kicked down the stairs in Mexico then hopped on a flight a few hours later so that you could achieve another crazy milestone” (POST Wrestling; F4W). Swerve Strickland kept it shorter: “UR nuts” (POST Wrestling).

Dave Meltzer pointed out in the Wrestling Observer Daily Update that Allin has now finished a marathon and summited Mount Everest, on top of wrestling at Arena México and Wembley Stadium and holding a major world title, a list he suspects no one else can match (F4W).

No rest before the cage

The week started with Allin retaining the TNT Championship against Josh Alexander on Dynamite in St. Louis, then making his CMLL singles debut against Hechicero at Arena México on Friday, where he was sent down the arena steps and lost (POST Wrestling; SEScoops). On Wednesday in Jacksonville he teams with Will Ospreay, Adam Copeland, The Young Bucks and Steven Borden against the Don Callis Family inside AEW’s two-ring cage (POST Wrestling; SEScoops).

The Background

Allin was one of the famous names on this year’s celebrity roster, which we rounded up before the race in our NYC Marathon 2026 preview. The race marked the 50th anniversary of the five-borough course (SEScoops).

He reached the summit of Mount Everest in 2025, the biggest of the outside-the-ring stunts that have become part of his brand (SEScoops; F4W).
