The Lowdown

Bandido got his wish. On Dynamite on Nov. 4, he demanded a Texas Death match, Hangman Page gave in, and the AEW World Trios title match at Full Gear became exactly that: Page, Brody King and Bandido against Swerve Strickland and The New Level (AEW.com; Fightful).

Key Takeaways

  • The match is Page, King and Bandido vs. Strickland, Austin Creed and Kofi Kingston for the AEW World Trios titles (PWInsider).
  • Full Gear is Saturday, Nov. 14, in Phoenix (AEW.com).
  • Bandido attacked Kingston backstage, then brawled with Strickland onto the stage before Creed speared him (AEW.com).
  • Page had resisted the stipulation for weeks before agreeing (Fightful).
  • Tony Khan and the commentary team confirmed the match minutes later (Fightful).

How It Got Here

Strickland started the night by explaining why he went after Bandido last week: Bandido is the only man who has pinned all three members of his team. Creed didn’t love the answer. Moments later Kingston was found trapped in The New Level’s locker room door, and Bandido came through it swinging (AEW.com).

The fight spilled into the arena. Bandido German-suplexed Strickland onto the ramp and hit a Death Valley Driver on the stage, then reached for a metal truss before Creed speared him. Security, Page and King had to drag Bandido to the back (AEW.com).

Backstage, Page told him that’s exactly where Strickland wants them. Bandido said Strickland took his mask and his honor, and that this wasn’t about Page anymore. King nodded, and Page agreed (AEW.com; Fightful).

The Pit Take

We think Texas Death is the right call, and so is the way they got there. Page saying no for weeks made the yes feel earned, and handing the anger to Bandido gives this match a different engine from Page’s old feud with Strickland. This could steal the show in Phoenix. The Background

In a Texas Death match, there are no disqualifications and a fall only ends with a 10-count. Page and Strickland have been rivals for years, and Strickland’s partners Kingston and Creed are former WWE stars. Full Gear also has Fletcher vs. Ospreay for the world title (PWInsider).
