There is more Obsession out there. Writer-director Curry Barker told Rolling Stone that a longer version of his horror hit exists, running roughly 20 minutes past the theatrical release, and that he’d like to put it out.
Just don’t call it a director’s cut. “I think the movie is the director’s cut. I really do,” Barker said, adding that he mostly got to make the film his way. The longer edit is a different animal: “So that is the Director’s Cut, but I would say Extended Cut for sure.” He didn’t say what the extra footage covers, Twisted Voxel notes, so for now it’s a wish rather than a release plan.
Focus Features opened the film on May 15, and the micro-budget thriller with Inde Navarrette as Nikki has since passed $520 million worldwide.
