History
Warner Bros. began on April 4, 1923, when brothers Harry, Albert, Sam and Jack Warner incorporated Warner Bros. Pictures. The studio grew from feature films into cartoons, television and music, and its animation unit gave the world Looney Tunes.
Ownership changed hands many times over the next century, from Seven Arts and Kinney National to Time Warner, AT&T and, from April 2022, Warner Bros. Discovery. In 2026 the studio’s film and television business passed to Skydance, the company led by David Ellison that also owns Paramount.
