The Story
AEW’s president is upbeat about his new corporate partner. Speaking for about 40 minutes at the WrestleDream post-show press conference, Tony Khan said he has had “a few great conversations” with Skydance CEO David Ellison, who he said is “very excited” to be a partner in AEW (POST Wrestling).
Skydance completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery on October 6, putting TBS, TNT and HBO Max, where AEW airs, under the same roof as Paramount+ and CBS. Khan said keeping TBS, TNT and HBO Max together was particularly important, and described Ellison as “a wrestling fan” his own age (POST Wrestling).
On the roster, Khan said “Timeless Toni Storm will be back,” said Jamie Hayter had not been cleared for WrestleDream, and said he was “intrigued” that Kairi is a free agent without saying talks had taken place (POST Wrestling).
Khan also called the weeks after All Out and the death of Ben Satterley (PAC) “the most challenging time in AEW history,” and said Clockwork Carnage could be used for the women’s division (POST Wrestling).
