The Lowdown
Fletcher has been AEW’s best-kept secret at the top of the card, and his pitch is simple: he has already beaten Ospreay at Full Gear. Ospreay has looked untouchable since All Out, which is precisely why the man who knows him best is the right challenger.
Key Takeaways
- Will Ospreay defends the AEW World Championship against Kyle Fletcher at Full Gear on November 14 in Phoenix (TPWW).
- Fletcher issued the challenge after beating Jungle Jack Perry on the October 28 Fright Night Dynamite (TPWW).
- Fletcher cited past wins over Ospreay and Adam Copeland (TPWW).
- Also on the card: Davis & Doyle vs. the Young Bucks for the AEW World Tag Team titles (TPWW).
The Story
AEW Full Gear has its main event. On Wednesday’s Fright Night Dynamite in St. Louis, Kyle Fletcher beat Jungle Jack Perry, then was hoisted onto the shoulders of Don Callis Family partners Mark Davis and Jake Doyle as he challenged Will Ospreay for the AEW World Championship (TPWW).
Fletcher pointed to his past wins over Adam Copeland and Ospreay himself, and the match was made official that night (TPWW).
Ospreay comes in red-hot. He beat Jon Moxley at All Out for the first time in his career, then survived the first Clockwork Carnage at WrestleDream (AEW; Yahoo Sports).
Full Gear takes place November 14 at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix. The card also includes Davis & Doyle vs. the Young Bucks for the World Tag titles, Wrathlander vs. the Brawling Birds for the Women’s World Tag titles, and a Trios title match between Swerve Strickland & The New Level and champions Hangman Page, Bandido and Brody King (TPWW).
