Days after Moniece Slaughter said Martell Holt slid into her DMs while married, screenshots of a Sept. 2020 chat that Martell says proves he was only checking on her after her car accident are circulating. Here’s what’s confirmed and what’s still just alleged.

The Lowdown

The receipts are out, or at least something that looks like them. On Tuesday evening, screenshots of an Instagram DM chat between Love & Marriage: Huntsville star Martell Holt and former Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood star Moniece Slaughter started circulating, with No Chaser TV saying Martell posted them himself (@nochaser_tv on Instagram). They show a Sept. 13, 2020 conversation about her car accident, which is exactly the story Martell told when the two went at it in the comments (Complex). Nobody outside Martell’s phone has confirmed the screenshots, and they don’t settle Moniece’s separate claim that he messaged her back in 2017.

Key Takeaways

  • CONFIRMED: Moniece commented that Martell “was in my DMs in 2017” while married and that she didn’t respond. Martell replied that their chat was on Sept. 13, 2020, after her car accident, and that “I still got all the DMs” (Complex).
  • CONFIRMED: Moniece answered that she had “zero recollection” of a 2020 chat, said her side of the thread is empty and told him, “Feel free to post it” (Complex).
  • ALLEGED: the circulating screenshots, which No Chaser TV says Martell posted, show him writing “Glad you’re ok from the accident. Are you from Huntsville?” and her replying (@nochaser_tv on Instagram). PCP hasn’t been able to verify them independently.
  • NOT SETTLED: the screenshots cover 2020 only. Nothing public yet backs up or rules out Moniece’s 2017 claim.
  • No new public response from Moniece to the screenshots as of Tuesday night.

What the Screenshots Show

The No Chaser TV carousel, captioned “Martell Holt has posted the alleged DMs with Moniece Slaughter” and crediting Reality Entertainment TV, includes three DM screenshots with a Reality Entertainment TV watermark (@nochaser_tv on Instagram). The chat header shows Moniece’s verified account, and the messages are dated Sept. 13, 2020. We couldn’t find the screenshots on Martell’s public Instagram grid, so if he shared them it was most likely in his story, which expires. That’s why we’re calling them alleged.

In the screenshots, the Martell side opens with “Hey! Glad you’re ok from the accident. Are you from Huntsville?” Moniece’s side answers that her family is there, that she’d just been discharged and that she grew up in California. He says he saw her accident on The Shade Room, that he was born and raised in Huntsville, and that the city is so small he wondered whether they knew each other from back in the day. It ends with him telling her to “stay safe and hire a damn driver because y’all women cannot drive,” her replying “Shows how much you pay attention” and “I wasn’t driving,” and him apologizing and saying the accident didn’t look as serious in the photo he’d seen. We’ve left out the family names and personal details in the chat.

There’s no flirting in the screenshots, which is Martell’s whole point. There’s also no “we had a whole conversation” beyond a short check-in, and the women-drivers joke didn’t land well, to say the least.

How We Got Here

It started under an Instagram video of Arionne Curry, Martell’s girlfriend and now a Love & Marriage: Huntsville cast member, talking about how their relationship has improved (Complex). Moniece left a comment: “He was married. He was in my DMs in 2017. I immediately went to his page. Saw he was married and didn’t even respond. Period.” She then called Curry and her sister “birds” (Complex).

Martell fired back that the year “was Sept. 13, 2020,” that she “did respond,” and that he only “checked on” her after an accident that “was viral.” He tagged Kenya Moore, who has previously said he contacted her privately, and wrote that he still has both sets of messages (Complex). Then he went personal, saying Moniece has “no sex appeal” and “no attractiveness” and referencing her relationships with women (Complex).

Moniece’s second reply allowed that he may have checked on her in 2020 but said she didn’t remember it, and she held to her 2017 account. She also turned it back on his marriage, calling him an “adulterer” and asking how he could defend Curry and not his ex-wife, Melody Shari: “I said what I said” (Complex).

The Pit Take

If these screenshots are what they look like, Martell can prove the 2020 part of his story. He reached out after her accident, she answered, and it was mostly small talk about Huntsville. Fine. But that doesn’t prove the 2017 message never happened, and “I don’t delete” cuts both ways. If he has everything, the cleanest move is the full thread, not three cropped screenshots that surface through a fan account.

And he didn’t need to go after her looks. “I was just being polite” is a lot harder to sell when the same reply says she has “no sex appeal.” Moniece isn’t new to messy comment sections either, but on the narrow question of who wanted whom, the screenshots make this a draw at best. The real winner here is the reality TV comment section, just in time for Love & Hip Hop: The Final Chapter.

The Background

Martell Holt is one of the original stars of OWN’s Love & Marriage: Huntsville, which returned this year for new episodes (OWN via WBD Pressroom). His affair with Curry during his marriage to Melody Shari was a central storyline on the show; Curry later joined the cast (Bossip; Complex). Moniece Slaughter is best known from Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood on VH1.
