Overview
Madison Maidenberg is a UX/UI designer who appeared on the Denver season of Netflix’s Love Is Blind. She became engaged to Joe Ferrucci after pod conversations that moved from playful plans to serious questions about health, family and long-term commitment. The engagement ended before their wedding. In later interviews, Maidenberg discussed both the uncertainty she experienced in that relationship and the value of speaking publicly about her vision condition.
Netflix introduced Maidenberg as accomplished early in life: she had finished high school at 16 and bought her first home at 26. Her search for a partner followed a year in which she had gone on 40 first dates without finding the connection she wanted. She hoped to meet someone who could engage her intellectually and offer a gentle temperament alongside humor. Her professional background and independence were already established before the television experiment.
An important part of her pod courtship involved sharing that she had a degenerative eye condition that could lead to blindness. Ferrucci reassured her that the diagnosis did not change his feelings. Their conversations also included living together and having children. After their engagement, however, the transition into a physical relationship and everyday life introduced doubts that neither the proposal nor their shared plans could settle.
In Netflix’s October 2025 post-reunion interview, Maidenberg identified the condition as retinitis pigmentosa and described finding support through community. Speaking about it publicly, she said, helped counter the isolation she had initially felt after diagnosis. She also reflected on wanting to be more patient and less quick to read a difficult exchange as a personal attack. Although she did not feel that every question about the breakup had been answered, she described feeling at peace with moving forward after saying what she needed to say at the reunion.
