The Lowdown

This season was a gamble, moving the focus to the women’s team, and the finale paid it off by handing the team to Alice. Mae’s will settling the ownership fight was classic Lasso: sentimental, a bit convenient, and earned anyway. Roy leaving for Chelsea sets up real stakes for whatever comes next.

  • Mae Green’s 2% stake in AFC Richmond went to Rebecca in her will, putting Rebecca back at 51% (Deadline).

The Story

Spoilers follow. The fourth-season finale of Ted Lasso opens with a funeral reception at the Crown & Anchor for Mae Green (Annette Badland). The season focused on AFC Richmond’s women’s team, and the Lady Greyhounds sold out Nelson Road for their final match (Deadline).

The ownership fight ended at a shareholders’ meeting. Zelda Southport (Tracey Ullman) appeared to have taken control, but Rebecca and Higgins had a counter-move that left the vote at 49% to 49%. Mae’s will then left the pub to its three regulars and her 2% stake in the club to Rebecca, restoring Rebecca’s 51% majority (Deadline).

Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) accepted the head coaching job at Chelsea as he and Keeley prepare for a baby. Rebecca proposed to Matthijs, and he said yes (Deadline).

In the final scenes, Ted promoted Alice Chilton (Tanya Reynolds) to manager of the AFC Richmond women’s team, with Ted and Beard as assistant managers (Deadline).
