The Pit Take

Chekov was the kid on the bridge, the guy who insisted everything was invented in Russia, and Walter Koenig played him with an earnestness that made the joke land for 25 years of TV and film. He then reinvented himself as Babylon 5’s chilling Bester. With Patrick Stewart’s death following three days later, two eras of Star Trek lost a captain and a navigator in the same week.
