Overview

Brandon Gibbs joined 90 Day Fiancé in its eighth season in 2020, when the series introduced his relationship with Julia Trubkina. At the time, he worked in pest control in Virginia and helped with his parents’ farm in Dinwiddie County. His story began with an introduction arranged by a friend: Brandon and Julia first spoke by video while she was working as a dancer in Russia.

The connection led to an in-person visit and, later, an engagement in Iceland. Julia came to the United States on a K-1 visa, and the couple initially lived at the family farm with Brandon’s parents, Betty and Ron. The first season of their story made that living arrangement central. Julia was adjusting to farm chores and household rules, while Brandon tried to balance his relationship with the expectations of his parents.

Wedding planning became another point of tension, particularly when Julia felt that Brandon was not sufficiently involved in the preparations. They ultimately married in a small church ceremony during the pandemic. Julia’s parents joined remotely by video. The pair then appeared on Happily Ever After? season six, which followed their search for greater independence. They signed a lease and moved into an apartment, telling Brandon’s parents after the decision had already been made.

Brandon returned with Julia for season two of 90 Day: The Last Resort. At the Arizona retreat, their sessions addressed differing plans for children, communication and the continuing influence of family on the marriage. They chose to continue their relationship at the recommitment ceremony. Happily Ever After? season nine revisited their efforts after the retreat, including preparations for Julia’s parents to visit America. Across these appearances, Brandon’s television story has repeatedly centered on the boundaries between the couple’s life and their wider families.
